The Kansas Speedway and NASCAR are holding a special event for families at The Regnier Family Wonderscope Children’s Museum of Kansas City on Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Science of Speed is a STEAM experience designed to introduce children and families to the science, technology, engineering, art and math behind motorsports.
This interactive event will feature hands-on activities and experiences, providing a family-friendly event that’s both fun and educational. “Introducing our Wonderscope families to the world of racing is an exciting way to bring STEAM concepts to life,” said Roxane Hill, executive director of Wonderscope. “We’re thrilled to partner with the Kansas Speedway and NASCAR to encourage children to think about vehicles and driving in a fun, new way through interactive play and hands-on learning.”
Families will have the chance to see and explore an official NASCAR pace car outside the museum, meet a professional driver, and take photos. Once visitors enter the museum, they’ll find hands-on activities at stations created to teach children about speed and motion, force and friction, aerodynamics, and more. Participating families will also receive racing-themed activity books, a discount offer on Kansas Speedway tickets, and one free pre-race pass.
Visitors can explore the pace car and participate in the outdoor learning stations for no charge. Standard admission fees will apply to families wishing to enter the museum, participate in additional hands-on activities, and enjoy all Wonderscope has to offer.
