Cummins STEAM Day Initiative

Wonderscope is excited to announce that we have been selected as one of only 20 children’s museums nationwide to participate in a STEAM education initiative, generously funded by Cummins Inc. and facilitated by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM). Our shared commitment to advancing equitable educational systems and high-quality learning environments makes this the perfect partnership. Our collective goal is to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators right here in Kansas City.

We are inviting several local schools to join us for a day of exploration and learning on Monday, April 23. We firmly believe that hands-on, engaging experiences are essential for nurturing a love of learning in children, particularly at a young age.

This initiative aligns seamlessly with Cummins READY™, the company’s global education strategy, which promotes equitable and high-quality education from early childhood through adulthood. By 2030, Cummins READY™ aims to guide at least one million learners and workers toward successful educational and career pathways. Together, we are committed to shaping a brighter future for our community through STEAM education.

Danette Howard, PhD, Global Director of Education and Corporate Responsibility at Cummins Inc., emphasizes the urgency of early STEAM education. “Research shows that 92% of boys and 97% of girls will lose interest in STEAM if they are not immersed in these subjects before fifth grade,” she stated. “By partnering with children’s museums—trusted community resources where families already gather—we can reach children during the critical early years when STEAM attitudes are formed and help ensure that every child, regardless of their background, can see themselves in STEAM careers.”

We are excited to participate in this partnership and look forward to inspiring young minds to explore the wonders of STEAM, powered by Cummins.
