"BECAUSE I SAID SO!"
Moving beyond control
April 3, 2008, 7-8:30pm
The conflict of wills is as old as time. And the instinct to demand compliance is just as old. But the demand for compliance carries a price tag. Fact is, the moment we DEMAND compliance, we move from compassionate to forced respect.
In this workshop you'll learn:

  • Why and how harshly demanding compliance from children hinders their respect for you as a parent or leader.
  • How to handle resistance to your leadership without losing respect.
  • When to negotiate and when NOT to.
  • How to negotiate without losing authority.
  • How to understand the difference between sympathetic and forced compliance.
  • Specific words for gracefully moving through and beyond moments of impasse.
  • Why and how a culture of respect overcomes the need for forced compliance.
  • Eight ways to cultivate a culture of respect making forced compliance a mute point.
  • How to help a child understand and feel his contrary ideas are being considered.

"MAY DAY! MAY DAY!"
Finding a knot at the end of your rope
May 1, 2008, 7-8:30pm
How do you ‘hang in there’ when the stress of working with children pushes you to ‘the end of your rope’? You find a knot and hang on. But what does that knot look like and how can you avoid getting there in the first place?
In this workshop you'll learn:

  • Emergency measures to help you survive moments of emotional crisis.
  • Five subtle habits that increase stress in adults who work with children.
  • Five practical ways to change subtle, destructive habits into productive practices.
  • What to do when you feel stress building.
  • How to pace yourself to reduce the growth of stress.
  • Why regular breaks from children help to maintain balance and perspective.
  • Six kinds of breaks and how to arrange them.
  • Ten practices that cultivate a culture of order and harmony.

Dramatically reduce your parenting struggles!
Each Workshop is $10/individual or $15/couple.
